Image A community hub has been missing from central Brixton for some time. The Railway Hotel Regeneration Project is a community-led initiative to bring a much loved Brixton institution back into community ownership and use.

The Railway Hotel was built in 1880, and has always operated as a hotel and/or pub. It's six-sided clock tower is a renowned landmark on the Brixton skyline. Since the sixties it has been known as a music and dance venue- both Jimi Hendix and the Clash have played here. It was renamed "Brady's" in the 1990's and was well known and loved among the community for its shennanigans until it was compulsorily purchased and closed in 1999. Recorded as the heart of the central Brixton Community for over a hundred years, the Railway Hotel now lies empty and is smothered in graffiti.

ABC Brixton has now formed the 'Brixton Community Trust' in order to take on ownership of the building and is working with consultants on a plan for its restoration.

The current supporters list can be found here.
